I start with E
as the most complete and balanced lamb in the class. A
relatively easy winner with good bone, correct rib shape,
smooth full top with a good hip loin junction. While
definitely not the longest bodied lamb in the class he
brings the most complete package.

C
and B are similar in pattern. I give the edge to the C lamb
based on the amount of bone carried and a smoother topline.
I see C over B in fullness of the loin also. C is more
rounded in his rump muscle pattern and I expect carries that
muscle deeper in the twist as opposed to the flatter muscle
of B.

(4th hind) |
D,
our fourth place lamb, has adequate length and bone but
rolls off in the hip too much to place higher. I'd
also fault him some on the leg structure.

Fifth Place: F

F
and A are the problem lambs in the class. I fault both on
the neck set being too low (not coming from the top of the
shoulders). I will grant they both have plenty of body
length but lack the attractiveness to place higher. I
gave the edge to F for the cleaner pattern from the
thirteenth rib forward. He has some basic quality through
the rib and is fairly clean fronted but lacks enough muscle
to compete with our higher placing lambs.

A
obviously carries more product than F but in a package I
find too coarse and structurally incorrect.
