I found some faults with
each lamb in the class, however upon close observation I
placed 2 first in this class and over number 3 because of
her superior length of side. She is medium plus in
frame score. Her long neck sits
on top of her shoulder and is an indicator of a long rack and hindsaddle. When viewed over the top she is extremely wide and square
over the rack and loin and she gives the appearance of being flat over
the loin. She does appear to drop off a little in the hip, however, she
is extremely long in the hip. I would like to see her a little deeper
in the rear flank and that would add to her balance. She appears to be
clean in the brisket area and wide through the chest floor and brings
that width all the way back.

I placed 3 second and over 1 because I
thought 3 more closely fit the pattern of my first place ewe, number
2. I do fault number 3 for being a little too shallow bodied.
Her
neck might drop down a little but not enough to matter when compared to
the bottom pair. Frame-wise, I would call her on the plus size of medium
frame. I do criticize her for not being wide and square over the rack
and loin. I would sure like to raise and flatten her over the loin
edges. She is a long, smooth muscled ewe that is a little too flat in her
muscle through the leg for me. I think 3 easily places over number 1
for second place.

I would like to see a longer neck on number 1.
She
is not level and square through the pins. She does appear to have more
than adequate muscle and is fairly balanced on her profile. My main
reason for putting 3 over 1 for second place is length of side. I
believe in the bottom pair of 1 and 4 , 1 wins fairly easily with more
length of body.

Although both 1
and 4 are medium frame, I would criticize 4 for
the slope over the loin and slope off the hip.
I thought the class
easily broke down into a top, middle, and bottom pair. Again, I placed
the class 2-3-1-4 with cuts of 3-4-2.
