Official Placing: 1, 2, 3, 4
Cuts: 2, 1, 7
I
placed this class 1, 2, 3, 4 with cuts of 2, 1, 7. Although I found
faults with all four ewe lambs in this class, I thought the closest
placings were between the top pair, 1 and 2, and the middle pair, 2 and
3, with the easiest placing between the bottom pair, 3 and 4. |

I started the class with ewe 1. I thought she was the
thickest muscled most balanced lamb in the class. I did see
a little breast plate on this lamb. However, in my
opinion it's plate instead of fat because I did not see
evidence of overfinish in either the fore or rear flank or
around the dock. I would like to clean her up a little
in the front end and would like her more if she had less
depth of front. She appears to be wide and square over the
rack and loin. She does have a little slope off her
hip but not as much as the other lambs in the class. She
does have excellent depth of twist and muscle thickness
through the stifle.

I thought the closest placing was between the middle pair, 2
and 3. Both appear to be yolk necked. Both appear to slope
over the rack and loin, especially the loin. Both
appear to be short hipped. They both appear to have plenty
of muscle, depth of twist, and stifle.

Third Place: 3

3 appears to have more slope off the hip than 2. 3
really appears to "cow hock" and also is weak in the
pasterns. 3 appears longer sided than 2, however I believe
this is just camera angle because when 2 is viewed from the
rear she appears just as long bodied as number 3. Although
3 has several structural flaws, I thought she was an easy
placing over number 4 for third in this class.

Fourth Place: 4

Although ewe 4 is a growthy ewe she has a lot of structure
problems, is too heavy in the front shoulder, really slopes
off the hip, is shallow in the twist and lacks muscle
through the stifle. Again, I placed this class 1, 2, 3, 4
with cuts of 2, 1, 7.
