Official Placing: 4, 1, 3, 2
Cuts: 3, 1, 4
Given
this set of ram lambs with some obvious differences in age and one
pictured at two different ages, I place the class 4, 1, 3, 2. The cuts
will be 3, 1, 4 .

I start this class with the buck lamb pictured as number 4.
I see him being the most complete while apparently the
youngest lamb presented. He has adequate length, the
cleanest front and enough depth of twist to win over the
number 1 lamb that comes in second. I will grant the
testicle circumference is not what I'd like to see and the
hip should be more level with a higher set to the pins. Top
and rib shape excel the others in my mind.

Second Place: 1

I followed with number 1 to place second in our class. He's
a ram exhibiting excellent length of body but without the
depth of twist of our class winner, giving weight to the
difference in age. I also fault the second place ram as
being less desirable in his front and not as smooth down
that top.

Third Place: 3

As
the cut suggests I find the second and third place rams the
easiest pair to switch. The 3 ram is also excellent in body
length, neck set, and a bit more attractive on the profile
than our second place ram. I fault our third place lamb
heavily on his rib shape, especially just behind the
shoulders. I also find his rump structure less
desirable.

Fourth Place: 2

Our last place ram lamb will be number 2. To my eye this ram
falls to the bottom relatively easy as a shallow twisted,
rough topped type of sheep. While possessing good length of
body, that high shoulder, poor rib shape, and undesirable
structure in the rump and rear legs places 2 at the bottom
of this class.
