Official Placing:
1, 3, 2, 4
Cuts: 6, 2, 7
There is
one animal in this class that has to be considered as a class winner. 1
is the levelest topped, longest sided lamb and really should be the only
one you think about for winning this class.
There is a lamb in this class that has to go on bottom. 4 is the off
balance, narrowest structured lamb. Then there are two lambs that
obviously belong in a middle pair. The placing should be obvious for
everything except for what goes second and third.
In a class
with an obvious top and bottom, I preferred the alignment 1, 3, 2, 4 in
this class of prospect lambs. |

Starting with the levelest topped, longest-sided lamb with
ample muscle 1 easily places over 3.

Second Place: 3

Breed:

While 3 is a thick ended lamb that belongs in a top pair of
more balanced lambs, it is steeper rumped and coarser
fronted than 1.
Still in the middle pair 3 places over 2 for having more
potential as it grows. 3 appears to be wider topped and is
more balanced to look at from the profile.
|
Third Place: 2
Entry number:
189
|
|
While 2 has an exaggerated muscle structure, this is a steep
hipped, off-balanced lamb in the pair that is sickle-hocked
and undesirable in the profile.
Still in an easy bottom pair 2 places over 4 for definition
of muscle and width of structure.
|
Fourth Place: 4
Entry number:
218 |
|
4 is by far the narrowest rumped, narrowest structured lamb
that is built like a loaf of bread with too much middle
appearing easy over the top losing out in terms of projected
carcass quality and desirable show-ring style.
