I
started the class with number 2. I appreciate the growthiness of this
lamb. I would call her medium framed. I appreciate the long neck
and its placement on top of the shoulder. I also appreciate her clean
front, especially in the brisket area. I would like to see a tad more
bone, however she is adequate. She has a long level top and long level
hip. I would like to see a higher dock set. She appears wide and flat
over the loin. She has excellent depth of twist, however I would like
to see more muscle expression through the stifle. She is really
balanced in her profile.

I
thought the middle pair, 4 and 3 were the closest placing, however I
gave the edge to 4 because I believe she will have more grow. I would
call her medium plus in frame while number 3 is medium frame. I
would give the advantage to 4 for the clean front and long, level top
and bottom lines. I also would give the advantage to 4 when comparing
balance and profile. I would grant 3 appears to have more bulge of
muscle through the stifle and lower third, but, when the two are
compared from the rear 4 appears to have as much depth of twist and has
a good inside leg muscle.

3 is on the verge of having too much depth of front.
granting, 3 appears to be more muscular than 4 it's because
of the type of muscle, round compared to long and smooth. 3
is short from flank to flank and she appears to be early
maturing. She also appears to have a short, sloping hip.
In comparing the bottom pair 3 and 1, I would easily give
the advantage to 3.

Although 1 appears to be medium plus in frame and is
extremely clean through the front shoulder she is just too
narrow in the chest floor for me and carries this narrowness
down the rack and loin. She also has a short sloping hip.
I would like to pick her up about two inches at the dock and
square her out in this area. She is extremely shallow in
the twist and exhibits very little muscle through the stifle
and lower third.
Again, I would like to remind each of you this is a ewe lamb
class and and not market. For these reasons I placed
this class 2, 4, 3, 1 with cuts of 3, 2, 5.
