It is
good to be back, and I appreciate Crystal giving me one of the easier
classes to get warmed back up.
I
find a relatively logical two pair placing in this class, and like them
1, 2, 4, 3. |
First Place: 1
Entry number:
370
Exhibitor:

1
has a definite advantage of muscle volume and expression.
Due to him being a little full in the picture, he certainly
appears a little short sided, however in reality he is the
best designed most structurally correct lamb in class. In
addition he is more ideal in his condition, fuller over his
rack and loin and without a doubt the heaviest muscled lamb
in class.

Second Place: 2

2 most closely follows the pattern of our class winner and
is the other heavy muscled lamb in class, yet he his neck
does not tie into his coarser shoulder as well as 1’s and he
is not as smooth down his topline, dips at his hip-loin
considerably and does not appear as fresh as our class
winner.
On the other hand, he dominates 4 in regard to muscle,
structural correctness and balance. 2 is a wider based
stouter constructed wether that better maintains his
advantages of width and thickness to the top of his
skeleton. As a bonus he is shallower through the floor of
his chest giving him a better top to bottom line ratio
especially when compared to 4 through his forerib and flank.

Third Place: 4
Entry number:

4 blends a little smoother at the hip-loin juncture and
appears smoother blending from the rear, however is not as
expressive through the lower 1/3 of his leg and gets deep
fronted and steep hipped in his profile picture. Still he
has a slight advantage in lower leg muscle and is much more
structurally correct than 3. The main thing that sorts 4
over 3 is hip structure. 4 is longer in his hip, set wider
at his pins and has a much more desirable angle to his hock.

Fourth Place: 3
Entry number:
381 |

The ewe lamb is certainly elevated in her rack and full over
the fore portion of her loin, however plays out in terms of
muscle from her mid-loin back. She has the greatest
deviation from loin to hip, tapers from hip to dock and
flattens through her lower leg. Her incorrect hip design
also causes her to hock in more than ideal.
Thus the placing on this class again is 1, 2, 4, 3 with cuts
of 3, 7, 2.
