I
believe this class easily breaks down into a top pair, 3 and 1 and a
bottom pair,4 and 2. The trick is starting the class with the
correct lamb. |

Too me, 3 and 1 stand out in the class. I will grant both
of these ewe lambs have problems, however, I'm starting the class with 3 over 1.
I believe 3 is superior to 1 in thickness over the rack and
loin and has a major advantage in length of side. 3 is on
the verge of being a little deep fronted, however, she is
full in the rear flank and this adds to her over-all balance. She does
appear to break over the loin, however, I believe this is
due to being too stretched out. She is wide through the
pins, deep through the twist, and has ample muscle through
the stifle.

1 is a balanced lamb, however, I would like to lengthen her
from flank to flank and clean her up through the shoulder.

I will grant in the middle pair, 4 is longer sided than 1,
however, too me 4 is just too narrow and shallow in the
twist to move into the second spot.
4 easily places over 2 in the bottom pair. 4 would sure
look more correct if she was set up properly.
She is long sided, however, she is too round at the point of
shoulder, too high in the rear flank, too low in neck set,
too shallow in the twist and does not show evidence of
muscle through the stifle and lower third.

2 is easily the bottom lamb of the class. She does appear
to have some muscle and thickness, however, she is narrow
behind the shoulder, too flat over the top of the shoulder
and just to plain in quality to compete with the other lambs
in the class.
For these reasons I placed the class 3, 1, 4, 2 with cuts of
3, 3, 5.
