We started with the nicest balanced, most muscular lamb to win the class. While we would prefer him to tie better in his hip loin junction he still wins easily.

In our top pair of the two sheared lambs we chose 1 over 2 as she is wider based, heavier muscled and stands squarer on her hind legs. She possesses more natural width down her top and is thicker when viewed from behind. In addition, on the profile she is straighter in her top line making her more pleasing to the eye.

We do admit 2 is heavier boned, however we placed him second as he roaches in his top, is flatter through his leg and hocked in on his hind legs.

Despite these criticisms we still used 2 over 4 in our middle pair as 2 appears to be the stouter heavier boned lamb and is leveler and squarer out of his hip. He too is better about his front end, being smoother and more refined about his shoulder and neck.

Third Place:  4

Admittedly, 4 appears to have more muscle through her inside leg, yet we faulted her and placed her third as she is coarser shouldered, lower docked and finer boned.

Nevertheless, in our bottom pair of unshorn lambs we still preferred to use 4 over 3. 4 simply out powers 3 in muscle mass. She is wider and more dimensional through her loin and out her hip. She is also deeper through her twist and wider from stifle to stifle.

Fourth Place:  3

Granted, 3 is more extended and leveler out her tail head, but is weaker in her loin, narrower based and is flatter and plainer in her muscle shape.

Therefore we placed the class 1, 2, 4, 3 with cuts of 4, 3, 2.
