Official Placing: 1, 2, 3, 4
Cuts: 2, 6, 5
We placed the class of ewe lambs 1, 2, 3, 4. We saw it as a two pair class, having two nicer profiling ewe lambs at the top and two plainer made, rounder hipped ewe lambs in the bottom.

We started with the longer fleeced ewe lamb as she is better about her front end, being smoother shouldered and longer necked. She too appears to have an advantage in muscle, as she carries deeper into a more dimensional leg.

Granted, 2 is leveler out her tail head and gives us a better read as she is sheared down. However we faulted her and placed her second as she is coarser about her shoulder and is flatter through her leg as compared to 1.
In the middle pair, 2 easily is used over 3. 2 is the longer bodied, taller fronted ewe lamb that appears to be later maturing. She has the greater length of cannon, indicating she should be the larger framed ewe lamb at maturity. She too is leveler hipped, making her more eye appealing from the side.

We admit 3 is the stoutest boned, broodiest appearing in the class, but got critical of it as it is shorter bodied and is low in its dock set.
In the bottom pair we sorted them using muscle and structural correctness. 3 is wider based and is the easier fleshing ewe lamb that has more depth and development to her muscle. In addition she is straighter down her top and stands squarer off her hind legs.

We definitely see the brockle faced ewe lamb as being longer necked, but falls short as she is narrower made, weaker topped and hocked in when viewed from behind.
