Official Placing: 4, 1, 2, 3
Cuts: 3, 6, 2
We place this class of ewe lambs 4, 1, 2, 3. We instantly saw this as a two pair class, having a definite top pair of more feminine featured ewe lambs and a definite bottom pair of more conventional shorter coupled ewe lambs.

We chose to start with the nicest profiling, best balanced ewe that best combines muscle thickness and structural correctness. Ideally she could tie in better at her hip loin junction. Nevertheless we used 4 over 1 in the top pair, as she is better fronted. More specifically she ties higher from her neck to her shoulder and is trimmer through her chest floor. She too from the side is deeper through her rear flank making her the better ribbed ewe lamb of that pair.

Granted 1 appears to be fuller through her loin from the side, yet we faulted her and placed her second as she is u-necked, deeper chested and higher in her rear flank.
Despite these criticisms, 1 beats 2 in the intermediate pair, as 1 is the taller fronted, more attractive profiling ewe lamb. From the side she is longer cannoned, longer necked and is leveler down her top. In addition, she appears to be more structurally correct having stronger front pasterns and standing squarer on her hind legs.

We admit 2 is fuller in her rib shape, yet got critical of her shorter front end, weak top and poorer structure.
Even so, we used 2 over 3 in the bottom pair. As 2 is leveler hipped, longer bodied and more extended about her front end.

We certainly do see 3 as being one of the thickest made ewe lambs in the class, but is also the lowest fronted, shortest coupled and roundest hipped ewe lamb of the four.
Therefore we placed this class 4, 1, 2, 3 with cuts of 3, 6, 2.
