We chose to use 4 to win the class as he is the most complete lamb in being a balanced lamb that has a combination of muscularity, and a look of structural correctness. Ideally he could be longer bodied. We still prefer him over the longer fleeced wether in our top pair. When you compare him to 1 he is the nicer profiling lamb that is smoother shouldered, driven upward through the floor of his chest and simply maintains a leveler design down his top line and out thorough the base of his hip.

We do see 1 as the heavier muscled lamb. He undoubtedly possesses a greater amount of true muscle shape to his lower leg, to add to this he’s the longer bodied wether of the pair. At the same time we would like to see him more attractive when viewed from the profile.
Even so 1 beats 2 in our intermediate decision by means of overall volume of muscle. 1 is wider and thicker across his top and is far more dimensional to his lower leg, indicating he should rail the pounds heavier muscular carcass.

On the other hand some may admire 2 in terms of his expansion from stifle to stifle and he being wider at the point of his hip. In addition to this he is more chiseled and expressive in his muscle shape particularly about his leg. Yet we faulted him and left him as a close third as he breaks in his loin and tends to get short and round out through his hip.
Nevertheless 2 clearly dominates the only ewe of the class in our closing decision, as he is simply the more industry acceptable lamb as he possesses more natural curvature to his rib and more uniform depth through his rear flank, when taken to the rail we would expect him to hang with more total pounds of product.

Although the speckled eared ewe lamb is more elongated and smoother about her front end, we quickly faulted her and left her as a distant fourth as she is the poorest balanced, narrowest made, lightest muscled lamb of the four being tapered through her hip and flat in through her leg when viewed from behind.
Therefore we placed the class 4, 1, 2, 3 with cuts of 2, 2, 6.
