We chose to start the longest bodied, heaviest muscled lamb that best combines the show ring look. Ideally the wether we chose to start with could be fuller through his hip loin junction.
Nevertheless, we opted to use him over the stout fleshy ewe lamb. 3 appears to be thicker ended, having more natural width through his pins and being deeper through his twist and leg. He too is the more extended lamb having more length to his front end and is longer from flank to flank.

Granted the ewe lamb is fuller through her loin and appears to be fresher handling, but we got critical of her as she is low set, shorter bodied and flatter when viewed from behind.
Even so, 2 excels over 4 in muscularity and carcass value. 2 is the more pulled apart, wider based lamb that has a bigger top and is fuller in its upper hip.

We do see 4 as being the nicest balanced lamb that is smoothest from the side view. However, we were disappointed when we studied her from the rear as she is narrower gauged and flat through her leg.
Despite these criticisms, we felt 4 had more quality in her style and balance over 1. 4 is the nicest balanced lamb that is smoother shouldered, stronger topped and leveler docked. She too is the stouter boned, more structurally sound footed lamb that is stronger on her pasterns and set more correctly on her front legs.

We can certainly appreciate the Suffolk appearing wether for being fresh in its finish and long its body length, but faulted it and placed it last as it is poorest in its look, being deeper chested, pinched in his dock, frail boned, turned out up front, and flat in its muscle shape.
Therefore we placed the class 3, 2, 4, 1 with cuts of 3, 2, 3.
