Official Pacing: 4, 1, 3, 2
Cuts: 2, 2, 2,
This was an fun class to sort and I would be glad to put any of the four in my pen to feed as prospects. I simply ranked them on the order that I think they would work for a variety of judges, however any one of them could beat the other three under a specific judge with a different set of priorities.
In an extremely tough class of high quality market lambs, I like them 4, 1, 3, 2 with cuts of 2, 2, 2.

4 reads to be the combination lamb in the class that should work under a variety of judges. He is the levelest designed, hardest muscled most rugged constructed in the class. Ideally, the class winner could be wider set in his pins and fuller out of his upper dock, however, in comparison to 1, he is the fuller topped wether that is more shapely and expressive in all aspects of his muscling. As a bonus he appears to be longer and leveler hipped on the profile, deeper flanked and flatter, fuller and deeper over his loin edges.

Sure 1 is a long sided, late maturing big hipped wether, unfortunately he is the rawest in his condition and lacks the overall thickness of our class winner at this point therefore he is second. 1 still edges out 3 in the middle pair due to his stoutness of structure and correctness of design. The lamb on the blocking table is wider based, stouter boned and longer and leveler from hooks to pins. Most impressively is his shape of forearm and big hip that allow me to believe that as he is fed out he will be a larger framed thicker made smoother patterned wether.

Now there is no doubt that currently 3 is heavier conditioned and fuller racked than 1. Unfortunately as he matures I am not sure that he will maintain the structural integrity of our top two, as he is bolder in his shoulder and shorter and rounder out of his dock. Still I opt to use his added length of body, coolness of rib and indicated lateness of maturity as a slight advantage over the extremely thick 2 in an equally close bottom pair. The wether in the sale rack is longer necked and taller fronted. In addition he is longer sided and more elevated in his dock.

I’ll be the first to admit that 2 is deeper twisted and carries his muscle lower into his leg and I truly appreciate his overall thickness advantages from front to rear, unfortunately the rough shorn wether is the shortest sided quickest patterned in an extremely tough class. Also as it comes down to a single judges personal preferences, he is the shortest loined and lowest set in his dock and thus would rail the shortest hindsaddled carcass at his terminal endpoint.
