2 edges his contemporaries as he is simply the heaviest muscled, most shapely lamb in the class. Ideally he could be longer necked and smoother fronted. However in comparison to the unshorn wether, he is fuller over his rack, deeper twisted and will without a doubt hang the carcass with the largest leg score. In addition he is deeper flanked giving him a slight balance advantage on the profile.

Some may prefer the added length and extension of 3, as he is certainly later maturing, but that also adds to the fact that he is rawer in his condition, appears lighter muscled over his rack and leg and needs more time to reach the carcass merit of the class winner. Still he is a trimmer made lamb that would be much firmer to the touch than 1. The longer necked taller fronted unshorn wether would definitely rail a more shapely higher cutablity carcass.

I’ll be the first to admit there is more base width and thickness in the rear shot of 1. However, I feel that a significant portion of that is coming from the fact that he is the fattest lamb in the class. Despite this, he still shows more true muscle shape down his top and through the lower third of his leg in the bottom pair of heavier conditioned wethers. There is simply too much mass to his top and all aspects of his leg when compared to the dark fibered wether.

There is no doubt that the blue wether is shapely over his rack and really wide and flat over his loin. Unfortunately he flattens and funnels in his lower leg in a class of extremely thick lambs, is more plain in his rib design and actually the frailest structured, therefore we find him last.
