I began the class with the Hamp looking ewe lamb because I found her to be the most complete balanced lamb in the class. This moderate framed ewe certainly brings power. From the profile I would like to add length from flank to flank, however, she is sure adequate in length and it fits her frame. Her neck is properly placed, she is clean at the points and level in her top with the longest hip that is the most level of the class. She stands correct on her feet and legs with proper bone dimension. She has great rib design that opens her up through the rack, loin, and hip, and she is full in rear flank.

From the rear the neck blends smoothly into the shoulder and she gets progressively wider as we travel down the spine. She shows width and is level over the rack, loin, with depth of twist, width through the pins and muscle in the lower third.

I’m placing the grey pelted ewe, 1, second in the class and over number 4 primarily on length and being clean through the shoulder. Sure, I would like to add length of hip and raise the dock. From the profile she might be off in neck placement a tad. I do not notice her rib design as much from the profile as I do from the rear. From the rear she is impressive in the way her neck ties into the shoulder and she is super clean at the points and she sure shows width and flatness over her rack and loin as well as proper depth of twist and muscling in her lower third. She stands correct on her feet and legs with adequate bone dimension.

Third Place:  4

4 places third in the class as she follows the body type of the two ewes placing above her more than 3 does. I’m granting 3 is longer sided, however, I’m taking power over length. Yes, I would like to add length to the neck. She is level through the rack and loin, however, she does slope off the dock. From the rear she shows more width over the rack and loin than 3 and she is more blown apart in these areas and through the pins than 3.

Fourth Place:  3

I’m placing 3 fourth in the class, however, because of her strong profile I’m sure not culling her. That long neck properly placed sure gets my attention. That length of side is noticed, however, the flatness over the rib and side is also noticed. From the profile I would like to tuck up her depth of shoulder to balance her out. I would also like to raise her dock about an inch. I would like to change her rib design as she is too flat over the ribs and too shallow in the rear flank. I would like to increase bone dimension on this moderate plus framed ewe lamb and, from the rear I would like to add width to the rack, the rib shape, and over the loin as well as add depth to the twist, widen her at the pins, and increae the muscle mass through the lower third.

Again, I placed the class 2-1-4-3 with cuts of 3-3-2. Hey, let me see how you placed the class. OG
