Official Placing: 2-1-3-4
Cuts: 5-2-2

I placed this class 2-1-3-4 with cuts of 5-2-2.

First Place:  2

Entry number: 1222

Exhibitor: JakeRichardson

State: CA

Breed: Crossbred

I’m starting the class with 2, the obvious top lamb in the class. From the profile I like the long neck squarely placed, the clean front with the tucked chest floor, the long level top with the long level hip. the rib shape is evident and the overall length is superior compared to the rest of the class. From the rear I appreciate the width over the rack & flatness over the loin with added depth of twist, dock squareness and muscle in the lower third. A good overall light weight market lamb with a lot of potential.

Second Place:  1

Entry number: 1205

Exhibitor: Sheepsnpygs

State: OH

Sheep name/number: Tesla

Breed: Crossbred

The middle pair, 1 & 3 is closer than you think if you will look past the rough shear job of number 3. However, I give the advantage to 1 therefore he will place second in the class. 1 is a thick muscular lamb just a little rough in his skeletal and muscle make up. The moderate length neck is squarely placed. I would like to tuck up the chest floor about an inch, however, he is balanced. From the profile I would like to raise the loin edge because it has a tapered shape and I would like to add length and level out the hip. rib shape and structure is okay as well as depth of flank. From the rear I would like to add width to the loin & raise the loin edge, also smooth out the hip/loin juncture. This lamb should hang a good carcass.

Third Place:  3

Entry number: 1267

3 falls into the third spot when you look past the rough shear job. The long neck is squarely placed and 3 has a longer more level top line than 4 and is more correct in skeletal structure. From the profile 3 is balanced, however, I would like to tuck up the chest floor just a tad. 3 is long and level in the top line with one of the longest spines of any lamb in the class. He is correct in his rib shape with fullness in the rear flank. From the rear 3 is wider and has a more level rack and loin than 4. Also 3 is deeper in the twist and exhibits more depth of leg muscle than 4. Sheared and properly shown this lamb can be competitive.

Fourth Place:  4

Entry number: 1301

I’m placing 4 at the bottom of the class because on the profile he appears out of balance, also appearing taller than he is long. This makes him appear short sided and he is compared to the three lambs placing above him. He needs to be tucked up in the chest floor, he needs to be longer in his rack and loin and longer and more level in his hip. From the rear he probably doesn’t hock as bad as he appears, but, he is narrow over the rack and loin, and is shallow in the twist and lacks muscle in the lower third.

Again, I placed the class 2-1-3-4 with cuts of 5-2-2. Feel free to comment on the class. OG
