The dorset ewe lamb wins for me in both skeletal quality and muscle advantage. From the rear, she excels the class in width, expression, and shape of muscle. She stands wide and square on her feet and legs, and is angular in her shape from shoulder to rump. From the profile, she balances well and is tall shouldered and clean fronted. To be more ideal, she needs to be squared up in her rump shape.

The southdown ewe most closely resembles the class winner from the side. She balances well from forerib to flank and is correct in her topline. She appears to be square in her shape behind her blades and through the loin. She gives up some stifle shape and needs to be taller fronted and more extended.

In a close bottom pair, I prefer the balance and correctness of profile found in #4. She is up-fronted and straight-made from shoulder to dock. She has good depth of body and flank. To be more competitive, she needs to be more powerful in her leg and stifle, as well as having more fullness and squareness of loin.

The #1 ewe lamb is the heaviest structured, thickest ended ewe in class. She appears to be wide at her hip and pinset. In order to move up in this competitive class, she needs to balance better and be smoother in her transitions of topline.
