I easily chose the 3 ewe, as she most effectively combines muscle and eye appeal. From the profile, she runs uphill and is the most expressive in her stifle. When we view her down her topside, she is one the biggest backed in the class.

When you view them from behind, 4 is competitive with the class winner, but it's his aesthetics from the profile that drops into second place: he's deeper chested in relation to his flank and lighter in his stifle.
Within the middle pair though, 4 is genuinely stouter. Plus, he is wider based and thicker and fuller through his loin edges

1 wins the bottom pair because he is bigger boned and better bodied. Specifically, he is deeper in his flank in relation to his chest. Plus, the Southdown has a greater volume of overall muscle.

The #2 blue lamb falls straight to bottom, as he is the frailest structured, lightest muscled, and poorest balanced.
