We
started this class of ewe lambs with the most
complete from the stand point of balance, structure
and muscle. She is the most eye appealing and is
presented the best in terms of showmanship which
gives her a huge advantage. Ideally she could tie
better in through her loin.
Nevertheless we found her to be easily used over 4.
She is nicer balanced being stronger topped and
smoother shouldered. She too is growthier in her
kind, evidence by her being longer about her cannon
bone, indicating she should be the larger framed ewe
at maturity. We agree that 4 is thicker ended,
however when considering her boldness of shoulder,
roached top and shorter cannon bone we placed her
second.

In the
middle pair we would like to mention that both these
lambs could look a whole lot better if exhibitors
would have set their legs up squarer and leveled
their tops out, but we have to judge them as they
are and try to look at them for any qualities that
could be hidden. With that we used the squarer,
leveler hipped sheep that is more impressive from a
breeder's perspective; this is a harder piece of the
puzzle to achieve. We also like how 4 stands with
more structural integrity on her hind legs, having a
more correct set to her hock.
We
admit 3 is neater in her chest floor and her neck
comes out of her shoulders higher, but we criticized
her and placed her third as she is lower in her dock
placement and appears to hock under herself.

Third Place: 3

In the
bottom pair we used a more productive oriented ewe
lamb that has more width, and muscle. She is wider
through her center body and is more dimensional
through her leg when viewed from the rear.

Fourth Place: 1

We definitely
see how much better 1 is being shown and how she is longer
bodied and leveler hipped, but still is u-necked, weak
behind her shoulder and is too narrow in its overall make
up, particularly in her leg muscling.
Therefore we
placed this class 2, 4, 3, 1.
