Official Placing:  4, 3, 1, 2

Cuts:  1, 3, 2

For you participants who are used to judging strictly medium wool lambs, this weeks class could pose some problems for you.
I might add this could be the type of class you would find at a Texas livestock judging contest. I might be wrong, but I believe today's class consist of a FWX'S, a FW, and possibly two Brockle faced lambs.

This class breaks down into a two pair class, 3 and 4 and 1 and 2.

First Place:  4

Entry number:  425

Exhibitor:  SunnyD

State:  AZ

Sheep name/number:  Sunny

Breed:  x-Speck

The top pair, 3 and 4 are extremely different in body type with 3 being more of a power lamb and 4 being longer sided. Both lambs do have severe faults, namely short sloping hips.

I'm starting the class with 4 granting that 3 is deeper in twist with a more muscular leg, however, 3 appears too short sided for me. When I compare the length of rack and hindsaddle of 4 compared to 3 , 3 comes up too short in these critical areas and I do not believe that 3 is that much wider over the rack and loin than 4 to overcome the length difference.

Second Place:  3

Entry number:  419

Exhibitor:  SunnyD

State:  AZ

Sheep name/number:  00870

Breed:  X-speck

I do believe 3 easily places over 1 for second in the class. Granted, 1 appears longer bodied than 3, however, the thickness of muscle of 3 overcomes this length. I would like to level the hip of 3 and make 3 longer in the hip. This would add to the balance of 3.

Third Place:  1

Entry number:  122

In placing 1 over 2, I find 1 is longer sided and thicker over the rack and loin. I do criticize both lambs for sloping off the hip.

Fourth Place:  2

Entry number:  188

I'm placing 2 bottom of the class. I find 2 too narrow over the rack and loin and too shallow of twist and lover leg to go any higher in the class. I also find 2 too flat and lacking of muscle and really pinched in the pins.

Again, I placed the class 4, 3, 1, 2 with cuts of 1, 3, 2.
