Using the
nicest balanced, most structurally made lamb that combines
muscle and correctness of finish to start the class. While
realizing he is not the heaviest muscled lamb in the class
we still used him to win quite easily.

When comparing
2 and 4, the white faced wether is simply nicer put together
on the side view, being straighter in his top line. He too
is more expressive in his muscle shape as he appears to be
more dimensional in his rack and has more flare to his twist
and stifle.
Granted the crossbred wether is longer bodied, but is
slightly roached in his top and is flatter through his leg.

In the
intermediate pair we liked 4 over the Suffolk appearing
wether. These two lambs are very different in type and kind.
We chose the more structurally correct, growthier, longer
bodied lamb that has enough muscle. Our second place lamb is
stronger on his pasterns and is squarer off his hind legs.
He too is neater about his front end, being smoother
shouldered and trimmer through his chest floor. We do see 3
is one of the heaviest muscled lambs in the class, yet we
faulted him and placed him third as he is coarse shouldered,
bow legged and soft on his pasterns.
Despite these criticisms, we used 3 over the white faced ewe
lamb in a close bottom pair of the two thicker ended lambs.
The wether seems to have the advantage in being fresher and
fuller down his top and is also leveler out of his hip.

We admit, 1 is
better through her shoulder, is heavier boned and stronger
on her pasterns, but deemed it bottom as it appears patchy
in its finish and is really round and steep out of her hip.
Again we placed the class 2, 4, 3, 1 with cuts of 4, 4, 2.
