Placing:  3, 4, 2, 1
Cuts: 5, 4, 6

In a class with very distinct differences in the lambs and their presentation, I easily placed this class 3, 4, 2, 1.

First Place:  3

578

Entry number: 578

Exhibitor: PAFFAStarFarmer07

State: PA

Sheep name/number: 9-057

Breed: Suffolk

Starting with the ewe that overwhelms the class in terms of her balance of eye appeal and width of structure the dark fibered ewe easily sorts her way to the top.  3 excels in maintaining a show ring style with a brood ewe look for capacity and an impressive leg when viewed from behind.  While unshorn she maintains a pleasant profile being uniform in her depth of body with adequate dimension of rib and width throughout.

Second Place:  4

Entry number: 583

4 matches well in a pair of wider topped and more attractively patterned ewes.  However she is somewhat more prominent in her slope out the hip and does not have the flair of muscle when viewed from behind that we find with 3.

Still in my middle decision I prefer the more muscular and shapely top line and apparent advantages in bone and structural integrity of 4 over that of 2.  4 is especially appearing stronger in the set of the front legs and desirable in the set of the rear legs.

Third Place:  2

574

Entry number: 574

While 2 has an advantage in levelness of hip, she is a frailer made lamb that cannot compete with the heaviness of structure of the lambs in front of her.

Still in a bottom pair of lambs that are not as likely to produce show lambs, 2 easily places over 1 for her distinct advantages in overall eye appeal.

Fourth Place:  1

523

Entry number: 523

1 is a more commercial-oriented animal that is more conventional in her frame, but she is not correct in the placement of her front or rear legs, is not strong and level over her top, and is steep from hooks to pins.
