Official Placing: 2, 1, 4, 3
Placing: 4, 1, 1
Starting this class with the ewe lamb that is tighter ribbed and that does
not carry the muscle through the rear leg or over the top that would suit me
is difficult. I nonetheless placed this class of ewe lambs where structural
issues and lack of acceptable muscle pattern is the norm 2, 1, 4, 3.

2 is the longer sided ewe with the most level hip in the class. Although
the rear shot is nearly unacceptable for placing as we cannot see feet
structure nor base width appropriately, we deem her to be one of the more
structurally correct ewes. She appears to give up some rib shape and
dimension to the natural colored ewe, but is noticeably squarer when viewed
from the side.

1 comes into a middle pair where she has a modest advantage in size against
what appears to be the youngest lamb in the class. Furthermore, she appears
wider in her base set when viewed from behind with more appropriate set to
the rear legs.

Third Place: 4

4 would appear to be the clean fronted lamb in the class
with proportionately more attractive length of neck, but places third as she
is in the pair of lambs that has the most structural flaws with her hocks
appearing to turn in, being down in her pasterns, and also appearing to be
the narrower topped lamb in the middle pair.
Levelness of hip and front leg structure place 4 over 3 in the bottom pair.
4 is exaggerated in the set to her pastern giving me some unease in her
structure at this young age. Still I placed her over what is probably the
heaviest muscled ewe in the class.

3 is the steepest hipped and that
profile view appears to show her as "buck kneed." (This may be slight, due
to a picture pose, but if you follow the front leg down, the knee is
definitely coming forward from the attachment of the front leg to the
shoulder.) I find this fault and her hip to make her the most undesirable
ewe lamb of the four and placed her last.
