Official Placing: 2, 4, 3, 1
Cuts: 4, 2, 2

I like the market lambs 2, 4, 3, 1 with cuts of 4, 2, 2.

First Place:  2

Entry number: 609

Exhibitor: slomom

State: CA

Sheep name/number: L0007

Breed: Crossbred

2 best combines muscle and structural correctness and as a bonus is the stoutest lamb in class.  Ideally, he could be straighter in his topline, however his total volume of muscle and heavier bone place him over 4 in the initial pair.  To be more specific, he wraps more muscle around a bigger stouter forearm, is wider and flatter down his topline, is deeper twisted and has more flare to the center and lower portion of his leg.

Second Place:  4

Entry number: 659

Exhibitor: SheepnPygs

State: OH

Sheep name/number: DJ

Breed: Suffolk

Sure, 4 is leveler topped, taller fronted of the opening pair, yet in reality he is lighter muscled, finer boned and not as correct in his hind leg construction.  With these faults aside, his balance and eye appeal land him in second.  He is simply a leveler designed, smoother fronted lamb with more show ring look than the remaining two.

Third Place:  3

Entry number: 610
Exhibitor: animalluv34
State: TX
Sheep name/number: Jasper
Breed: Hampshire

Some may prefer the added shape and expression of 3, and more wedge shaped down his topline.  Unfortunately, he is uneven down his top, is out at the point of his shoulder and rolls off in his dock extremely bad.  On the other hand, when you view him from behind, he is squarer over his rack, progressively gets wider and thicker back to his pins and is much more shapely than 1.

Fourth Place:  1

Entry number: 566

1 is without a doubt the greenest lamb in class and is arguably the cleanest breasted, neatest fronted lamb in the class.  Yet, he needs to be thicker topped, fuller and plumper through his leg and could be smoother at his hip-loin juncture.  He definitely needs more time on full feed to maximize his carcass potential.
