Official Placing: 3, 2, 4, 1
Cuts: 3, 5, 2

I placed this class 3, 2, 4, 1 with cuts of 3, 5, 2.

First Place:  3

Entry number: 655

Sheep name/number: 422

Breed: cross

I believe 3 goes to the top of the class in an easy placing and over number 2. 3 is the power ewe lamb of the class.  She does appear to be a little round at the points and a little pinched at the hip/loin juncture, however, she is also very balanced in both top and bottom lines. 3 has excellent neck placement and shows length from flank to flank. From the rear she is the widest topped ewe lamb in the class, both, over the rack and loin.  She is excellent through the pins and has superior depth of twist with tremendous inside and out leg muscle development. She stands on a lot of bone and is square and correct in leg placement.

Second Place:  2

Entry number: 632

Exhibitor: EmsoffLambs

State: CA

Sheep name/number: 179

Breed: Suffolk/Hampshire

I see 2 as placing second in this class.  This ewe lamb will make a big, stout brood ewe.  She is extremely correct through the front and over the shoulder.  She has excellent neck placement, is correct at the points and shows a lot of length from flank to flank.  She appears to be a little narrow behind the shoulder and over the rack.  She does get progressively wider from rack to loin.  From the rear she shows to be a little narrow through the pin set and I would appreciate her more with added depth of twist and more evidence of muscling through the lower leg.  She does stand correct on her feet and legs and should develop into a sound productive brood ewe.

Third Place:  4

Entry number: 658

The most difficult placing was the bottom pair, 4 and 1.  I'm going with 4 for third because she is just smoother in her overall muscle appearance.  She is medium in frame and is well balanced and she does have correct neck placement. From the profile I would like to raise her dock about two inches and lengthen her out in the hip.  She is adequate in depth of twist with enough muscle in the lower third.  I just find her more attractive than number 1 which goes to the bottom of the class.

Fourth Place:  1

Entry number: 626

The fourth place ewe, number 1, is just too out of balance, too coarse in her appearance, shows a little too much depth of shoulder and just too narrow over the rack and loin to go any higher in the class.

Again, I placed the class 3, 2, 4, 1 with cuts of 3, 5, 2.
