name/number: Dum

We chose to start with the most structurally correct, nicest profiling lamb that best combines muscle thickness to win the class. Ideally the longest fleeced lamb could appear to be longer bodied, but that could be from it not being sheared as compared to the others.
Nevertheless, as you compare 1 over 3 in our top pair, we felt 1 was smoother shouldered and taller fronted. He too appears to be more parallel in his lines, being fuller through his rear flank.

Second Place: 3
Entry number: 681 |

We definitely see 3 as having more muscle expression and this is largely due to the fact he is sheared, but found him to be rounder and plainer through his shoulder and is more tucked up in his rear flank than we’d like.
However, when you study 3 and 4 in the middle pair you have to use the straighter lined, longer cannon wether. 3 blends smoother through the top of his shoulder and ties better in his hip loin junction. He will also be the taller fronted wether with more show ring appeal as he reaches a heavier weight.
|
Third Place: 4
Entry number: 683
|
|
No doubt about it, 4 is a stout, thick made lamb with plenty of center body. However, it gets shorter boned, coarser shouldered and breaks at his hip-loin junction.
Despite these criticisms, we chose to use the width and muscle 4 has over 2 in our bottom pair. 4 is wider, thicker down his top, more blown apart at his hip and is deeper through his leg.

Fourth Place: 2
Entry number: 675
|
|
Granted, 2 is a very pretty profiling lamb that is smooth shouldered and straight lined and will probably do just fine as he gets some cover on him. Yet we faulted the blue fibered wether and placed it last as he not only is the greenest, lightest conditioned lamb, but is the narrowest made, lightest muscled of the four.
Therefore we placed this class, 1, 3, 4, 2 with cuts of 3, 2, 5.
