Official Placing: 1, 3, 2, 4
Cuts:
3, 1, 2

After the last two classes we finally have a class that will challenge the evaluators. Every ewe lamb in this class has quality and each have their strong and weak points. I believe all four prospects can have productive futures if bred to a ram that will complement them. After close evaluation I see the class placing 1, 3, 2, 4 with cuts of 3, 1, 2.

First Place:  1

The ewe lamb in this class that stood out to me is 1. When we talk about style, balance, structure, and power with smooth muscle she rises to the top of the class. This medium plus framed ewe is extremely well balanced. That long neck sits properly on top of the shoulder. She is pretty on the profile and would be even more attractive if the handler had posed her with the muzzle held level. When you compare the top of the shoulder to the bottom of the chest floor in relation of the hip/loin juncture to the top of the rear flank you will be hardpressed to find a ewe lamb any more balanced. She is extremely correct at the shoulder points and the angle of the points to the top of the shoulder is correct. She is extremely clean in the brisket area, appears to be wide in the chest floor and brings this width to the back. She is both long and level in her top and bottom lines. She does need to be a notch higher at the dock, however for her breed she is very level and is long hipped.

When viewed from the rear she appears to be wide, flat and long over the rack and loin. She has great rib shape and she exhibits depth of twist with plenty of correctly shaped muscle in the lower third. She stands correctly on her feet and legs with plenty of bone.

For me, the most difficult placing was the middle pair, 2 and 3. 2 appears longer sided, however, 3 gets the advantage of being more correct in her front shoulder. I'm placing 3 second and over 2 primarily because of the more correct front end. 2 does look to be longer sided, however 2 appears to slope over the loin and I do not see this in 3. Both are medium framed and both apper to have medium length necks. From the rear 3 appears to be wider and leveler over the rack and loin. Both have depth of twist with a lot of lower third muscle.

Third Place:  2

Entry number: 725

In the bottom pair,2 and 4, I can easily give the advantage to 2 because to me she is the more appealing in breed type with less faults in structure.

Fourth Place:  4

Entry number: 767

4 is definetely the largest framed ewe lamb in the class and I do see possibilities in her as a brood ewe, especially when bred to a structurally correct power ram. She is long and level in her top and bottom lines and is clean in her front shoulder. She is correct at the points and clean in the brisket . She is wide over both the rack and loin with correct rib shape. I would like to see her show more width and squareness through the dock and pins. She is moderate in depth of twist, correct on her feet and legs with a lot of bone. She does appear to be flat in her stifle muscle. She is long hipped, however, she slopes from hooks to pins.

Again, I placed the class 1, 3, 2, 4 with cuts of 3, 1, 2. As usual, you are welcome to comment on the class.
