Official Placing: 2, 1, 4, 3
Cuts: 2, 3, 4

I place the market lambs 2, 1, 4, 3 with cuts of 2, 3, 4.

First Place:  2

Entry number: 615

Exhibitor: farmtown8kid

State: MN

Breed: Hampshire X

Even with the blurry photo, 2 has to initiate this set of market lambs.  She is without a doubt the best balanced, smoothest patterned lamb that is tucked neater in the floor of her chest, more correct in her rib design and bigger hipped.  Most importantly she looks smoother and firmer in her condition than 1 and has more side view shape to her middle and lower leg.

Second Place:  1

Entry number: 319

Exhibitor: Bulldog

State: OH

Sheep name/number: 3

Breed: Hampshire

I’ll be the first to admit that the pounds heavier 1 is longer loined and flatter out of his upper hip.  Unfortunately he is very full in the photo, making him appear deeper ribbed and pinched at his hip-loin juncture.  Stil,l he is more shapely over his rack and shows more true muscle shape all the way down his topline than the blue tinted ewe lamb.  In addition he is fresher in his appearance, deeper twisted and should rail more pounds of product than 4.

Third Place:  4

Entry number: 762

Yes, the blue ewe is thick docked and plump through her center leg.  Unfortunately she is more mature in her rib design and shorter coupled so she is third.

Now, it is her added condition and market readiness that ranks her over 3 in the concluding pair.  She is simply thicker racked, fuller loined and much more explosive in all aspects of her leg.

Fourth Place:  3

Entry number: 753

3 is a nice designed wooly legged wether, yet in reality he is the rawest in his condition, narrowest topped and lightest muscled of the four, and apparently needs more time on feed to maximize his carcass potential, therefore he is last.
