The unshorn lamb is the logical place to start the class as she is the best balanced, biggest hipped lamb that simply offers the most show ring look of the four. Sure I would like to have a true rear photo shot to determine the amount of thickness she has in the lower third of her leg, and she appears to dip slightly in her hip-loin juncture on the ¾ view. Still in comparison to 4, she is a longer spined, later maturing lamb that is better in her rib design, bolder racked and leveler docked and should better maintain her balance and eye appeal to heavier weights in her show career.

I’ll be the first to admit that I appreciate the depth of twist and expression of leg in the rear photo of 4. Unfortunately, the smoky buck lamb is rawer and greener down his top and short and rounder out of his hip so I opt to leave him second.
Still in a comparable middle pair of natural colored lambs, the wether is more structurally correct. His longer neck ties more correctly into his shoulder, while his smoother shoulder and shallower chest floor gives him a better balanced look from the side. He is deeper flanked and squarer off his rear two and should grow into a sounder skeletoned show lamb that I feel would fit a larger variety of judges.

The blue ewe lambs spreads more width down her top and is really plump through her lower inside leg, however she needs more structural integrity to edge either of the top two. Yet with those faults aside, due to the fact that she is carrying a little more condition, she is smoother in her look, wider, flatter and deeper through her loin and at this point better balanced than the speckled wether.

3 should grow to be a thicker, heavier muscled, pounds heavier show lamb with a great deal of product that would look considerably different with more cover. Unfortunately his profile leads me to believe that he is the poorest designed of the four as he is deep chested and bold shouldered, hollow flanked, rough over his loin edge, round out of his hip and light in the lower portion of his leg so I opt to leave him last. Thank You.
