Official Placing: 1-4-3-2
Cuts: 3-3-2
Let me start off with stating that all of the four yearlings in this class have merits that could improve most programs, and depending on your priorities even the bottom ram can move a given set of ewes in the right direction. My preferred alignment of the Yearling Rams is 1-4-3-2 with cuts of 3-3-2.

I opt to start with the big testicled, powerhouse ram that is unmatched in his skeletal width and overall expression of muscle. Sure, I would like to see him flatter and fuller over his loin edge, however he is the combination ram that in comparison to 4 is wider through the floor of his chest, rounder in his fore-rib and bigger out of his hip. In addition the shorter wooled ram appears tighter hided. Most importantly, he is plumper and shows more turn to the outside of his center leg, is fuller out of his dock and just reads to have more overall muscle shape and expression. I would predict him to produce more moderate framed, extremely thick offspring that would better fit the majority of today’s club lamb judges.

Now if looking to inject more size, smoothness of pattern or levelness of hip, 4 is the buck of choice. He simply lacked the muscle mass through his lower leg that the class winner possesses, so he is second.
Still in the middle pair of contrasting rams, 4 is much better designed through his front end, as he is flatter at the point of his shoulder and ties a longer neck in more correctly to a better designed ribcage. In staying with his advantages of skeletal design, he is longer and leveler out of his dock, stands squarer off of his hind two and I would predict him to better maintain his levelness of design when placed into motion. As a bonus he is the widest, flattest loined ram in the class that simply more fault free than 3.

3 can probably do the most to improve top shape and handle in his lambs as he is the boldest over his rack and most uniform in his width of topline. Unfortunately, he is the shortest sided and most compact in the class so he is third.
Yet, his added mass of top and loin paired with his added structural correctness allows him to edge his flockmate in the concluding pair. More specifically he spreads more width and dimension behind his blades, is deeper and fuller over his loin edge, is wider pinned and consequently wider through his stifle and I would suspect he would inject more muscle mass into his progeny.

2 is longer necked, has a higher % hindsaddle, is later maturing and is freakishly deep twisted, but I question his structural integrity as he is out at his shoulder, behind at the knee and wants to park with his hind legs up underneath. He also is the narrowest based and flattest and frailest in his rib design so I leave him last
