Official Placing: 3-1-2-4
Cuts: 2-2-3

In another close class from top to bottom, I prefer the prospect lambs 3-1-2-4 with cuts of 2-2-3.

First Place:  3

Entry number: 1146

Exhibitor: lm1668

State: OH

Sheep name/number: MSL 749

Breed: Crossbred

Website: www.meyersshowlambs.com

3 is simply the best balanced most eye appealing sheep on the profile, that combines it with proper rib shape and muscle dimension. No she is not the thickest lamb in the class, but reads to be the combination prospect. Length and levelness of hip primarily allow her to edge out 1 in the top pair. In addition she reads wider and fuller over her loin edge, is squarer out of her hocks and more elevated in her pasterns.

Second Place:  1

Entry number: 997

Exhibitor: Sheepsnpygs

State: OH

Sheep name/number: Snow

Breed: Dorset

Some may prefer the added power and shape in the dorset ewe lamb, and I certainly appreciate her depth of twist and lower inside leg shape. She just gets too short and round out of her dock for me to start the class with her. It is her design through the front 1/3 of her body that aligns her in second. She is a lot longer necked, laid smoother at the point of her shoulder and neat in her fore rib. Past this she gets progressively wider through her center rib and out of her rear 1/3. As a bonus, she is not as full middled and this combined with the added length of neck allows me to believe she will maintain her shape as she grows to heavier weights than 2.

Third Place:  2

Entry number: 1142
Exhibitor: EmsoffLambs
State: CA
Sheep name/number: 309
Breed: Hampshire X
Website: www.emsofflivestockcompany.com

There is no doubt that 2 is the powerhouse of the class, yet in reality he is the earliest maturing that I question as far as mature size and his ability to stay trim throughout his maturity process. Still if you want a thick powerful lightweight this one is likely your favorate and compared to 4 he is chocked full of muscle with more dimension over his rack and loin and more width through the plane of his stiffle.

Fourth Place:  4

Entry number: 1197

4 could very well be the longest and levelest made sheep in the class, however she is also the lightest muscled in all aspects of her top, is ewe necked and to cut up in her flank for me to get above 3 prospects that just have more overall showring potential based on the photos.
