Official Placing: 3-2-4-1
Cuts: 2-3-3

I placed the class 3-2-4-1 with cuts of 2-3-3.

First Place:  3

Entry number: 1270

Exhibitor: jdk

State: TX

Sheep name/number: Bella

Breed: Mediumwool

In starting the class with 3 I’m starting with the best profiling lamb of the class. I still appreciate an extended neck squarely placed. 3 is a very balanced lamb, however, I would like to raise his chest floor just a tad. He is very long sided and very long and level in top line and has a long level hip. From the rear I appreciate the width and flatness over the rack and loin, the width at the pins, & depth of twist and power of muscle. 3 is a good solid prospect.

Second Place:  2

Entry number: 1263

Exhibitor: Bmellum

State: TX

Sheep name/number: Jerry

Breed: Finwool cross

2 would look more correct from the profile if his rear legs weren’t so extended and set square under the corners, which would make him look more balanced. The moderate length neck is squarely placed on this moderate framed lamb. He is level in his lines and clean through the shoulder and the points. From the rear you can see the thickness and width of both the rack and the loin. He is correct in rib shape, full in rear flank, deep in the twist with ample muscle through the lower third.

Third Place:  4

Entry number: 1333
Exhibitor: 2TLivesock
State: NE
Sheep name/number: Spur
Breed: Hampshire X

In placing 4 third this lamb might move up higher if he was sheared smoother and without as much pelt. This lamb may be off just a tad in neck placement, and may be a little too deep in the chest floor. He does show rib shape and flank fullness. From the rear view which is a little distorted 4 appears wide and flat over the rack and loin, deep in the twist with ample lower third muscle.

Fourth Place:  1

Entry number: 1182

In dropping 1 to the bottom of the class I do appreciate the level top line, level hip, and rib shape. However, from the rear I do not see evidence of width and flatness over the loin and rack that I do in the three lambs placing above him. Keep in mind there is only a weight spread of 9 pounds in this class, and I do not see evidence that this lamb will ever be more than just moderate muscled.

Again, I placed the class 3-2-4-1 with cuts of 2-3-3 discussion of the class may begin. OG
