3 wins this class with ease because it is the most complete balanced lamb of the class. Beautiful on the profile, long extended neck squarely placed neck. (I still appreciate lambs with a long extended neck because that indicates a long rack and hindsaddle. If breeders are not careful they are going to take the current ground pounder craze to the extreme resulting in all sorts of lambing problems.) A long level top line including level square hip. He exhibits proper balance of front and rear quarters, is clean at the points, has round rib design and fullness in rear flank.
From the rear this lamb is clean over the top, wide and flat over the rack and gets progressively wide as you travel down the spine to the flat wide loin. He is wide pinned, deep in the twist and has an explosive leg extending through the lower third. In summary 3 is just a real complete lamb that when harvested should hang a desirable carcass.

1 follows 3 in the second hole. On the profile this blue pelted ewe lamb is balanced, has long neck squarely placed leading into a long top line. I would like to raise the long hip an inch or so at the dock. This lamb is properly designed in the rib cage opening up into a big top that is both wide and flat and this extends to the wide flat loin.
From the rear this lamb is wide at the pins, deep in the twist with adequate leg muscle. Just a real good prospect that would work as a brood ewe prospect or hanging on the rail.

2 places third in the class. This lamb does not profile as good as the two placing above it, however on the profile the extended neck is squarely placed. The points are smooth, the rib is round and the rear flank shows fullness, however, it does not project the leg muscle of the two placing higher in class.
From the rear this lamb is narrower behind the shoulder and over the rack than the lambs placing first and second. He does appear to show evidence of being round ribbed and with over the loin.
From the rear he is wide through the pins, has average twist depth and does not have evidence of much muscle in the lower third.

In placing 4 fourth in the class I do so because he is the least balanced of the four. From the profile would like to raise the neck placement and clean him up at the shoulder points which are too round. His rib design is very similar to the higher placing lambs.
From the rear view which is not a rear view but a three quarters view which works against him as it places emphasis on the round shoulder points, this lamb appears shallow in the twist, is narrow through the pins, shallow in the twist, lacks muscle in both the inner and outer leg and does not extend down into the lower third. This lamb just does not have the overall thickness of the three lambs placing above it. In addition he has a short sloping hip.
Again, I placed the class 3-1-2-4 with cuts of 3-1-3.
Good luck and comments are appreciated. OG
