In a competitive class of market lambs, I find a logical place to start in the 3 wether. Not only is he the heaviest muscled, but also works more shape and dimension over his rack and loin. When studied from behind, he is wider in his pin set and deeper and in his twist.

Second Place:  2

Entry number: 1441

Exhibitor: gonefishin1

Now I'd admit that 2 does tie his neck higher into the point of his shouldern but unfortanately he gets rounder over his rack and flatter through his forerib.

Even so in my intermediate decision it's the 2 wether's added shape and expression that keep him over 4. As I read him from the side, he shows more shape through his center leg and lower stifle. This is verified when studied from behind as he is also the wider constructed bigger hip wether that appears to come more squarely out of his dock and pins. Below that, he is more massive through his center leg and more expressive in his general muscle pattern. I would expect this wether to handle firmer and truer to the touch.

Third Place:  4

Entry number: 1482
Exhibitor: EmsoffLambs
State: CA
Sheep name/number: Three Sister Sheep
Breed: Hampshire

Now if you wanted to switch this pair in favor of 4, I can't argue with you too much. They are very contrasting in type. I very much prefer the aesthetic value of this wether from the side. He seems to be more elevated in his chest floor and pushed back further through his plate. He is smoother through the point of his shoulder and larger statured. He studies to be more parallel in his lines and ideal in the correlation between his lines. Simply he gives us a more classic club lamb look from the side.

My worries begin when we step behind him. I read him to be more general in his muscle design. He doesn't square up with the same amount of shape and expression up high and from behind as our top duo. He flattens and plays out through his inner leg and outer stifle.

Fourth Place:  1

Entry number: 1426

I complete the class with 1. I appreciate the symmetry she gives us from the side. She is ultra level topped and hipped. However, she does get the frailest in her foot and bonework. Furthermore, I simply need to see more center body width and power to justify moving her up.
