I placed this class 3-1-4-2 with cuts of 4-2-1.

First Place:  3

Entry number: 1500

Exhibitor: Kbaabe

State: TX

Sheep name/number: 1222

Breed: Medium wool

In starting the class with 3, the most complete balanced lamb of the class with the least structural problems of the class. On the profile this wether lambs stands out in the class. He has the longest and most level top line of the four. His extended neck sits on top of the extremely clean shoulder which is clean at the points. He is tucked in the chest floor, round ribbed, full flanked. Just a beautiful animal on the profile.

From the rear he is wedged designed over the shoulder with width and flatness over the rack, getting progressively wider traveling down the spine and loin which has deep edge. He is wide pinned, deep twisted, with an abundance of both inner and outer leg muscle. Correct in his feet and legs that are natural set square under the corners. He is just a complete lamb that should be very competitive both in the ring and on the rail.

Second Place:  1

Entry number: 1455

Exhibitor: Sheepnpygs

State: OH

Sheep name/number: Stanley

Breed: Hampshire

The middle pair, 1 & 4 could go either way. The ewe lamb 4 gets the style points, and the wether lamb 1 gets the power points.

I'm placing 1 second because of his advantage in thickness from front to rear. Sure, I would like to add length to his side, however, he is balanced. His neck is properly placed, and he is clean at the points. I would like to tighten up the chest floor. 1 has a great rib design and is full flanked. He appears to stand correct on his feet and legs.

From the rear I'm assuming he is wide and flat over the rack and loin because he squares up good from the rear. He is square through the pins however I would appreciate more width in that area. He is moderate in depth of twist.

Third Place:  4

Entry number: 1506

In placing the ewe lamb 4 third in the class I realize this is a close placing. From the profile the neck is properly placed. The points are clean and the chest floor is tucked. The rib shape is in place and she is full in the flank. Due to her being overly stretched out it causes her to appear longer sided than 1, however, I believe their actual length is about the same.

From the rear you can see some rack shape, however, I would like to see more width of rack and loin. Although 1 & 4 both have Been spot clipped, I believe if the wool was peeled off the leg, twist area she would not be as muscular as she muscular as 1. She appears to hock slightly, however, I believe that is caused by her rear legs being too stretched and not set square under the corners.

Fourth Place:  2

Entry number: 1486

Exhibitor: liliannaewe

State: FL

Sheep name/number: Achilles

Breed: Hampshire X

The extremely green lamb 2 rounds out the class. His long neck is squarely placed, however, he is a little too round at the points. He does have a long top line with a long hip, however, he sure slopes off the hip. The round points, the sloping hip, the narrowness over the rack are all structural problems.

From the rear he is narrow behind the shoulder and over the rack, the loin with the low set edge. He does appear to have width at the pins and definition of muscle. With added conditioning this lamb will improve in overall appearance but he will still have structural problems which will keep him from moving up in this class.

Again, I placed the class 3-1-4-2 with cuts of 4-1-2.
