Under 15: CaseEmsoff

15-18: Cloey

Over 18: Chho35

Official Placing: 3-2-4-1
Cuts: 5-2-3

First Place:  3

Entry number: 1587

Exhibitor: Cloey Edwards

State: TX

Sheep name/number: J Lo 1419

Breed: Wether dam

3 wins the class with ease as she is the most complete ewe in the class. She is the most structurally correct ewe in the class and is immaculate in her design. On the profile she is extremely clean through the front with the tucked chest floor, clean at the points. Her long neck sits on top of her shoulder and she is long and level in her top, the hip and great in her rib shape and flank fullness.

From the rear she is wide and flat over the rack, the loin and is wide pinned and the widest based ewe in the class. Although she is heavily muscled she is still feminine in appearance. She does appear to be a tad weak in her pasterns but this is probably due to the stress of the show ring, the concrete and being far along in her gestation. She is a great brood ewe prospect that a breeder can build a flock around.

Second Place:  2

Entry number: 1586

Exhibitor: Conner Club Lambs

State: OK

Breed: Shropshire

The two ewes most similar in design is 2 and 4. I believe 2 more closely fits the design of the class winner 3, therefore, 2 will place second in the class. 2 is cleaner through the front than 4. She stands more correct on her feet and legs and from the rear, is wider pinned and deeper in her twist. She is wider based. She is a good brood ewe prospect.

Third Place:  4

Entry number: 1602
State: FL
Sheep name/number: Emerald
Breed: Suffolk x

4 places third and over 1 because she is thicker and wider in her overall design. She is wider over her rack, the loin, and deeper in the twist. She has a big advantage in rib shape and flank fullness. She is moderate plus in frame and will make a productive brood ewe.

Fourth Place:  1

Entry number: 1529

1, the largest framed ewe in the class, has a beautiful profile. She has the longest top line in the class with a long level hip. I would like to see more evidence of rib shape and flank fullness as she is the flattest sided ewe in the class. I would like to see more evidence of bone and muscle through the lower third. Because of her excellent profile if she is bred to a structurally correct power ram she can and will produce excellent lambs.

Again, I placed the class 3-2-4-1 with cuts of 5-2-3. Comments are welcomed and appreciated. OG
